A Breakdown of the CPE Test Sections
The CPE test is divided into four sections:
Reading + Use of English
- Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Focus: Includes 53 questions on grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
Writing
- Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Focus: You have to write 2 texts of 280–320 words each.
Listening Test
- Duration: 40 minutes
- Focus: Consists of four parts and checks the ability to understand the content and extract key information.
Speaking
- Duration: Approx. 16 minutes
- Focus: Consists of three parts and tests the ability to use language knowledge in various situations.
